Hamilton Beach 78213 Vacuum Sealer Reviews

The Hamilton Beach 78213 is a budget priced Vacuum Sealer that is best suited for occasional use. This is a manually operated vacuum sealer that had the most finicky operation of all the models we tested. It can seal both wet and dry foods, but there aren't any dedicated food mode settings, and there is no pulse function for delicate foods. The controls are on the top of the unit when you close the lid, and they are easy to understand and use.

We have a few reservations about recommending this model. Our first complaint is with the sealing procedure, most manual sealers give a reassuring click when you close the lid, locking things in place while the bag is sealed, there was no locking click and we found if you didn't press the lid down the bag didn't always seal correctly. Our next biggest issue is with the overall quality of the unit. Hamilton Beach has been making appliances for a long time, but we don't feel most of the things they are selling today are built to last. If you're looking for something that's budget priced and don't mind if it's broken in two years, feel free to buy their products, we'd rather pay a little more and get something that's a lot more durable. Additionally there's no on-board bag roll storage, and no accessory port or hose. In our opinion the NutriChef PKVS18SL is a much better value and it's a lot higher quality for about the same price.
